Welcome Back Kotter Star Robert Hegyes Has Died

Actor Robert Hegyes, who played Jewish-Puerto Rican wheeler-dealer Juan Epstein of the hit 1970s show Welcome Back Kotter, has died.

The Jersey-born actor suffered an apparent heart attack after suffering chest pains at his home in Metuchen Thursday morning.

Sources reveal that the 60-year old was rushed to JFK Medical Center by emergency personnel but was in full cardiac arrest and died.

One of his last public appearances was at the TV Land Awards in April of 2011 with former co-star John Travolta celebrating the 35th Anniversary of Welcome Back Kotter.
