Jason Wu revealed a powerful collection for Fall 2012 filled with elegance and drama. The designer, who recently launched his capsule collection for Target last week, delivered a return to 1940's glamor reminiscent of Marlene Dietrich in The Shanghai Express.
Brocade blazers shimmered while tassels and high sleek ponytails swayed as the army of Wu emerged one by one from behind the Forbidden City inspired red doors.
Form-fitting yet ladylike silhouettes and Mao military jackets, accented with Swarovski crystals for a touch of opulence, paraded down the catwalk.
Outerwear featuring luxurious mink captivated the audience as much as the alluring evening wear and cocktail dresses featuring velvet and elaborate embroidery.
When asked what type of woman wears Wu, the young designer replied, "Someone who appreciates refined silhouettes, impeccable tailoring and beautiful craftsmanship."
One might say this was Wu's most elaborate and luxurious collection to date.
