UnWrapping The Roc Da Mic Fashion Event~
Last night at the Conrad Hotel in downtown Indianapolis fashion and music collided for a special event - Roc Da Mic! The event was presented by CGK3 Productions and sponsored by K & G Fashion Superstore, East Washington Street location, which brought the latest designs for spring front and center. Chino Dollaz and Ms Black Indiana 2011, Demitrea Kelley were both entertaining and engaging hosts for the evening's event.
Designers that presented at the show were Victorious Clothing - Monsoor Sideeq and FiaFi Line - Safiyyah Abdul-Rahim, Derek Hill of D. Lamont Couture, Catherine Fritsch of Sweet Revenge Lingerie, Tina Jimison of Mahogany Charm, G Ingles, Lamont Thomas of UFly? & Sharon Evans of Replica. Last night two stylists were also included in the event - DaNisha Greene and Bryant Hendricks - showcasing their fashion styling talents from head to toe! The designers presented an array of ensembles ranging from bright colors to bold silhouettes and trends in both fashions and accessories. Catherine Fritsch, of Sweet Revenge Lingerie seems to be on a world tour of fashion shows at the moment showing her latest creations at Midwest Fashion Week, Art in the Round and last night's event, where she mixed her signature avant gard pieces with a more urban styling. An unexpected, but very welcome, set of South Pacific inspired pieces were presented by G Ingles. Taking a cue from Samoan 'lava-lavas,' several of the male models walked the runway in brightly colored sarong-like creations, while there were many variations of Hawaiian print dresses for the ladies. Interesting styles were also presented by Mahogany Charm, beginning with their crocheted men's and women's bathing suits. They continued into a full line of clothing that featured several pieces using exposed zippers and sleek materials.
Music was a definite highlight of the evening, the audience enjoyed performances by several artists including Mouse & Ant Hustle as they shared the stage with some of Indianapolis's leading fashion models. During the evening DJ B Rad spun familiar tunes mixing in old school Boyz II Men, Notorious BIG and Ginuwine.
Coming on the heels of Indianapolis' "Race for the Cure," which took place on Saturday, it is quite appropriate that a portion of the proceeds from Roc Da Mic will be donated to breast cancer research. For more information, or to make a donation, you can visit www.pink-4-ever.org.
On a personal note we would like to thank the Aesthetic Design Style team, especially owner Julia Rutland and Public Relations Assistant Janelle Cissell, for the incredible and professional treatment we received. The event was a total blast and we as media were taken very good care of from beginning to end. What a wonderful experience!
